Default Feb. 25 & 26 *both 50+ fish days*

Monday February 25th, 2008

Fishing time: 9:30a - 12:00p, 2 1/2 hours
Barometer: 29.95 and 29.85 then I got home.

fishon: 33 fish - mix of mostly gills and few crappie
flounder: 25 fish - same as above

Fished 4 holes, sun was shining and wind picked up.

Hang on to your hat, here he is, fo flounder.

And here is a little double.

Back to flounder with biggest crappie of the day and fishon with an assist. Yes, I ended up with a wet sweatshirt sleeves. I had to double hand this one as it was headed back down the hole.

Me with the biggest pumpkinseed.

Another gill.

Another double.

I did get another nice pumpkinseed.

And the last big gill for the day.

I might have caught more fish today, but flounder caught the bigger ones. WTG it was a great trip.
Till next week, Fish oN!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Fishing time: 9:30a - 2:00p, 4 1/2 hours
Barometer: 29.81
Snowing like crazy, we had 3" on the ground by the time we got back. Every time we moved, I ended up drilling in a wet heavy snow.

fishon: 44 fish - mix of crappie, gills, pumpkinseeds
TPB: 52 fish - same as above, bonus LMB

Fished a ton of holes, we didn't stay long if the fish were small. We were always on the hunt and we ended up in the last hole with the best fish in it. 1 right after another.

Again the one with the less fish count ended up with the biggest ones. See what happens is the one the normally can get the higher up fish normally will get the bigger ones, plus that is where the crappie roam. We can still fish the middle depth together and be in hoards of fish.

12 1/2" crappie, with the serious look.

Check out this huge long ear bluegill.

And a 12 3/4" crappie to end the day.

Glad you made it home today in the snow. It was crazy out there and the pull back up the hill was slip and slide. With the 14"-15" of ice, time for the gas auger. Heavy momma, would like to down size in the near future.

Well till next week,
Fish on!

All these gills and crappies were caught on Marmish Size 1 or Northland doodle bugs with 2-3 maggots on the hook.

Went back to old school fishing and the meat.

Seems that later in the season, the hair jigs and plastics, just don't do it. If your looking for numbers and none stop action, late in the game, it's time to head back to the bait.

Sorry, Keith, no THE jig monday or tuesday, and we put some killer numbers on the chalk board.
There is always a time and place for different techniques.
