Underwater lights while night fishing
Hey everyone.
I want to try some nightfishing on the ice sometime for crappies. I bought 2 sets of 12v LED ROPE lights thinking they may be able to light up my hut at night. They don't seem to be anywhere near enough light for inside the hut, but i was wondering if they would work through a couple holes in the ice. Maybe to draw the crappies to the lights and then our icejigs?
I'm not looking to draw zooplankton and start the whole chain of events as you would in summer. Just wondered if it would be an advantage to have 2, 4 foot strings of ROPE lights down 2 holes, maybe just outside the icehut on both sides to keep them from getting tangled with the fish. They are not real bright but should get the attention of nearby crappies.
Anybody ever try this? Would it even be worth trying?

I also have some green flourecent underwater lights i built last year and a couple halogen submersible lights that would be real easy to drop down a couple holes 20 feet from the hut. I have always heard they work best during the hottest part of the summer. Would they maybe work under the ice too?
This would be on some river backwater potholes that are no deeper than 7 feet.
