Berkley Alive waxies?
Picked up a jar last weekend, since the real deal is hard to find around here in the winter. Just wondering if anyone is using them to tip jigs and how well you have found them to work. Thanks!

they work ok if the fish are biting good but real waxies are definately better

When I use the Berkley Gulp Alive waxies it seems that it works better in some lakes than others. I have the same problem in my area trying to get live bait. I've had success ordering online and having them shipped. I've used Ja-Da Bait Welcome to www.jadabait.biz

Blue gills love them in the spring. I have tried them ice fishing and they will catch fish when the bite is on. But when it slows use the real deal.

The Gulp "alive" products have been working here in Minnesota pretty well, but like any bait we have to let the fishs tell us what they want. Some days the crappies will tear up the 1" minnows in this product line and the next day they won't look at anything by a plain plastic. Still, the Gulp proucts have shown enough good to need to carry them every time I get out.
The product line is getting pretty large really. It includes the 1" minnows, the 1" leeches, the fish fry, the minnow heads, the 1" twisters, the waxies and grubs. All of the panfish baits mentioned come in the jar, not the zip lock packaging.
These will not replace bait, but they surely can expand your working arsenal of baits. I don't use live bait at all and if I do need something to spice up a jigging spoon or an ice jig I use the fish fry Gulp. If the whole bait is too long I just nip away the segmented body until I get it to where I want it.
Just a word or two of caution. Don't allow these products to dry on a hook/lure.....they are murder to remove when dry. After opening, be darned sure to store the jars up-right in their own carrying case/box. I have a deep Plano box that carries about a dozen jars. The problem is the jars don't seal well with the factory seal after they've been opened. I picked up some gasket material and made inserts for my jars that work good at sealing that foul smelling broth in, but I still store them in their own box. Just in case.
