Then this shouldn't have been your first recommendation. Just sayin, dude. PM the guy that asked and send him a few of yours to fish. Seems like the better thing to do. Free is better than anything else.

i have used many a hair jigs in my short time fishing. i've used 60 cent hair jigs, i've used ck's. it all depend on what you are after.

i can lay out 5 different kinds of hair jigs and at first sight they all look identical. but i find that when i buy the cheaper ones one of 3 things happen. hair falls out frequently, paint comes off the head, or the hooks break instead of straighten out when snagged.

if i'm ice fishing i'll use the cheaper ones. not really snagging those and not running over cover to lose hair.

for open water fishing i'll fish ck's jig. i've not lost one yet. and they look brand new.

not everyone here has the time to be captain jig maker.

Are they expensive? sure...but based on the fact i'll lose twice as many less expensive hair jigs than i will ck's. its entirely worth it to me.

so hnd your saying noone else in the world makes good jigs but ck? thats a load of crap. even if you buy top quality jigs in bigger sizes from someone like BPS or Cabelas you wont pay 2 bucks even for roadrunners or maribou jigs. If you think 2 bucks is worth it for an 1/80th size jig then i hope i never hear you complain bout gas prices or economy and there is a butload of jigmakers that make fine jigs at not so outlandish prices. For heavens sake i wish i just had used someone else to begin with, i was just trying to point out the type of jig not recommend a rip off artist....
i dont make jigs to sell but if anyone wants good quality jigs just pm me ill mail you some free for heaven sakes im not gonna try to turn 20 cents into 2 bucks..friggen 1000 percent markup

yeah thats what i said, i said that ck should win a nobel peace prize because he has blessed the world with his wonderful jigs. noone else should even attempt it.

i'll guess i have to assume that you buy 20 dollar rods too? all it is is graphite and cork! whats the difference between that and a 100 dollar rod!!!

i used to buy plenty of cabelas jigs maribou and regular and to be honest, they have become junk. not worth it at all. i'm sure there are plenty of people that make great jigs for less than 2 bucks a piece, once i found ck, i had no need to keep looking. but i'm not hard up on cash enough to not help a small business who takes care of me and offers me a great product in the sizes and colors i want.

i searched online for a couple of hours a few months back and could find a total of 1 other website that offered the type of look i look for in a hair jig and it was 5 bucks for 3 and shipping was 6 bucks. either that or a dump 100 bucks into jig making/tying tools and take the time to make them myself.

i'll gladly try your jigs up if you're willing.

as i said, i've tried so many brands of hair jigs i've lost count and none of them have lasted like ck's. are they the best. probably not. but they are the best i've found. i've recently found a guy who will make them for me any color i want for a buck a piece, but i have to buy 20 of them at a time. his quality is on par i believe with ck's. i'm currently enjoying them as well. i never buy exclusivley from one source.

OK, as a MODERATOR of this FORUM I am asking that this thread go back to the question at the top. There was a question of what to use, not the prices of a particular lure or the person making them. Just answer the original questions.

Before we do that I'd like a chance to say something about all of this poo going on.
Not counting gear I have 20 hours in double dotting eyes.
No other small jig out ther has double dotted eyes.
Of coarse all of my heads glow and the hooks are high quality that do not dull quickly nor do they fall aprat even with 500 fish being caught on the same jig.Mine are glued so even if a bit of hair does get pulled out the glue holds it all together.
Custom Jigs and Spins makes a kiptail for 1.00 apiece and they fall apart inside of a dozen fish. There's no value there.
It also takes me an hour to do a dozen. I don't know what your time is worth but mine is worth more than at per hour.
I have all of the business I can handle.I'm out a good month to 3 months depending on the time of year.
If I epoxy clear coated them they woul;d truely be indestructable and I'd want another .50 plus when a guy can't catch fish and I'm right next to him drilling slabs he'll pay 5$ a jig....jigs are expensive on the ice! LOL

    So....I'm tired of making jigs.
I do not care to even try to sell them with the repeat orders I'll get.
I put a ton of quality into them and they are deadly once you learn how to work the water column.
You can talk smack all you like ,however the value is there which can not be denied.
I even give a guy a 300$ a day guided trip for nothing to learn how to properly use them. Who else does that?
Plus I guarentee that they hold up to 100 fish...who else does that?

I can appreciate a guy tying...There's a few posters here...right Joe that I've helped do their own.
It's a great hobby, but for me it's turned into a business.
I pay taxes on the proceeds...do you?
So gho ahead and give away your jigs.
That's up to you,but when it's do I guide or do I tye...my time is worth more that 50 cent a jig.
If you think I'm too high on my pricing....that's ok. Go buy some other jigs.
It's called supply and demand...the demand is high and my time is limited...I also have a day job....so for me to not tye and not guide is a pure luxery and for me that time is priceless!

As this will be new to many of us I'm hoping to get some tips and techniques of how and where to catch them...

My lake has some deep water way out up to 40 ft and lots of areas just off shore that drop down to 10 to 15 feet (short walk)...My 73 year old legs can't take too much trudging through the slush and snow like they used to so these areas I will give a try early morning or late afternoon/evenings...

Gotta get a new auger as I donated my old 8 inch manual one to a kid's club...am eyeing those kits that go on an 18 volt drill...I have the equipment I use to catch perch through the ice so I believe I'm ok in that regard...Should I just try the same tubes, twister tails and Fin-S minnows and shad lures we catch them on in open water?
    Cheers!!!...Mates

    Those drill attachments work great!
WTG on helping out the kid's club....that there was a very fine thing to do.
Small baits with waxies tipped work great. There are also some small plastics that are killer for perch.
    Look at LIL Adams plastics.
If you want to go 1 step further a flasher like what Marcum makes work great for marking fish and working them off of the bottom.
At 73 I'm sure a small portable and small Mr. Buddy heater would be a great addition.
I'd also look to Gamma copoly 2 test line with a noddle rod or a rod with a spring bobber strike indicator.

well said ck, if they were 1000.00 a piece and people are buying them then the only thing anyone should be asking is why cant I get that for my jigs I would rather have a well made anything than get a good deal on a piece of cr@p
