Default Hunting Ethics Question?

I have a situation that I would like to share with the board and get their opinion on.
I and a friend had seperate hunting leases and were both CEO's of our respective leases. We would invite each other to visit and hunt each others lease from time to time. About 5 yrs ago I invited this person to accompany me to Iowa to hunt with my kinfolk there and their group, who have permission from different farmers to hunt their ground. Bear in mind this is a world class trip and on any day Mr. Big could show up. About 2 yrs ago I lost my lease because the owner moved back from Michigan and didn't want to lease anymore. I approached my friend about getting on his lease in May and as time got closer to bow season he dodged the issue until he told me one of the other members didn't want me on the lease. Then he told my son that a different member than the one he told me had been the one to turn me down. Also adding to this the year before I had given this friend a green light to bring his son along. We hunted in Iowa last year and practically never spoke. Then this year he done an end around and called my cousin sucking up and has got a green light from him to come again. What do you think of this story and who do think is in the right and the wrong.

I agree with Bullfrog.... you hunt your lease, let him hunt his....you can already tell it won't work from past experience. I have been there and done that buddy.

Not knowing all the details, IMO from what you're saying, this person never was a "true friend". On the contrary, sounds like he was a moocher. I know them kind well. Bent over backwards to help and share.....gave stuff away when I coulda got a little $ for it.........whether it be huntin', fishin', or other situations...........then BAM........it's "shun" time. The world's full of'em!!! Yep, let him go mooch off of somebody else. There's a few folks out there that will be there for ya thru thick & thin.........not many. I've got a couple of'em................(I think)

What is the old saying, you can count your friends on one hand. My best friend passed away a couple of years ago. He never let me down and I was all way there for him, when I found out he was sick I took time off from work to be with him and his family.
We all know people like the one you wrote about in your post. I work with some like that. They don't even offer to let you hunt or fish with them unless you have somthing to offer back.
Keep your chin up, you know where he stands now.

Those "fair-weather" friends are a dime-a-dozen, son. I suppose those types really make you appreciate the true friends you really do have.

The good Lord has given each of us a noggin with grey matter inside. He expects us to USE it!

Like JFK said, "Forgive your enemies but never forget their names."

Hope you have learned a special lesson in human behavior. Some folks just don't know how to act right. Once they send up that red flag, I simply keep my distance and act accordingly.

It is unfortunate, for you, but I sense that you have learned that not everyone can qualify to be a true friend.

I don't have but one, maybe two friends, but because of them I count myself as a blessed man.

Been there...Done that...And I have leaned from that!!! Real friends will be there to offer you things or help you never dreamed of asking from them. Just walk away knowing he helped make you a better man.
