    Default Deer and Yote

This is my first year to use a muzzleloader. Up until now I have only bow hunted and I still prefer it, but I'm starting to enjoy the additional range a gun affords. Thursday morning I went and sat down in a bush paying no attention to wind direction. Last weekend my buddies saw a couple of bucks, cruising our field. The smaller buck ran off, but the 7 point stayed put and the shot at him, twice, and missed. I went out there Thursday morning and sat down by his scrape and sure enough, at 7:10 he came across the field on a string towards the scrape with his nose to the ground the whole way. I stopped him at 60 yards and shot him in the neck. He dropped in his tracks.

Sunday morning I got back out there and a coyote was fooling around in the field about 200 yards away, which is a little out of my confidence range for a muzzleloader. Well, he made the mistake of wandering too close and I wiped the smile off his face when he got to my 100 yard mark.

Anyway, just wanted to share these two kills. These are my first kills with a muzzleloader and certianly will not be the last.

Hope everyone else had good weekends.

Congrats on the kills. Nice spread on the 7pt. Muzzleloaders can be fun.. I love my muzzleloader.. CVA Optima Pro/Nikon Omega with BDC reticle, shooting TC Shockwave 250g with 100g pyrodex powder. I can get 1" groups at 100 yrds.. I don't like shooting anything over 100 but I would feel comfy shooting 250yrds. So don't hold back, give it a shot, you might be surprised.

Nice work, Crow. My opening day got squashed but I'm glad to see that somebody's getting r done. I smell jerky.
