Well I call myself a meat hunter but I've been blessed to harvest some real nice bucks, and only one of of those can I say I was actually hunting that deer which was a 6+ year old main frame 10 pointer with identical kickers on each of his brow tines and that was a 3 year process and worth every minute.
I get just as much of a rush with a big ol nanny doe as I did with any wall hanger I've taken and for me that's what its about if I ever get to the point where I don't get excited when a deer comes in I'll be ready to quit hunting.
I'm having too much fun now teaching and watching my son and yes learning with him about one of gods most special animals, watching him scan a ridge looking for a deer or getting his back pack ready at the truck and the ear to ear grin after he's put the smack down on one is as special to me as any trophy buck I have or ever will harvest.
If you've got kids or grand-kids get em out there you'll be surprised just how much fun can be had and the memories made will last a lifetime and then some, so "teach your kid to hunt and you won't have to hunt your kid"

Well I hunt for meat but a big buck is a nice bonus. But my favorite thing about hunting is the time spent with my boys when that get a deer it makes my day.
Just my two cents:D

I hunt mostly for antlers...they have got to be 8 points with an 18" inside before I take one. I passed a 9 pointer yesterday with 18" inside because he had a short G-3 and G-4. When I get ready for meat, I lay it on some nannies. I pass a lot of bucks, hoping that my grandson or granddaughter will get a chance at it when they get to go.

I mostly meat hunt, but if a legal decent buck comes through I'll kill him.
