I think that group should do the trick. I can't see how anyone could dog a 30-06, they as good a gun as you can find for hunting, bout as american as apple pie. You are just right across the line in TN Crow, keep that gun. I have two 30-06. One is a custom Ackley barrel and homemade walnut from our farm from back in days antique. I got a Browning A-bolt II w/ leupold that I shoot the core lokt out of. I have liked remington ammo, and even brought some federal myself to try at others request, and still like the Core lokt 150 grain. Used to shoot 180 out of the old ackley,but when I got the new gun I went smaller/flatter. I have custom loads for 22-250 etc, but shoot straight out of box rem. shells and have good groups at 200yds from a rest w/ my 30-06. As for muzzle loader, u shooting pyrodex or real blackpowder. 25-06 and 7mm/ 7mm08 are awesome guns as well.

I have been shooting regular Pyrodex pellets out of my Omega. I have been shooting 150 grains of Pyrodex with a 245 grain Powerbelt hollow point. Although the Powerbelts are fairly accurate (shot it again this weekend and was getting decent groups), they slide down the barrel really easily. So I'm wondering if they are really properly seating in the bore. My friend also shoots the same gun with the exact load I been using and he swears by it, but I don't think it is the optimal load for my gun. So I'm gonna switch up the powder charge and also the bullets to see how it works out. I'm gonna try shooting some Hornady SST and TC Shockwaves through there later this week and see if I get any better results. ML season ends in 11 days in TN anyway and I'll be switching over to centerfire then, so I'm not gonna worry about it too much though. I am gonna work on the ML in the off season to determine the truly optimal load for it.

I don't shoot a inline but have helped a lot of people work up loads for them and every one that I have worked with has shot better with measured powder charges of cannister powder. Take your choice of brands they will all work just may have to work with the load abit. Most of the time charges around 100 grains by volume work best, and for best accuracy at 100 yards benchrest really requires wiping the bore between shots, contrary to what the made for TV info garbage says. Slipbobber that is exactly what I am hearing. I am in the very first stages of muzzleloading and I am learning about it everyday talking to different people and all. So far I just been copying what my friend does and using the same load of 150 grains of Pyrodex pellets with a 245 grain Powerbelt bullet. I'm not afraid of the recoil from 150 grains, but I do think it is too much of a charge and it causes inaccurracy. I have also been told that a measured charge of loose powder is better, which is what you said. Have you heard anything about Blackhorn 209? I hear that stuff is awesome and burns much cleaner and doesn't foul that bore nearly as bad as Pyrodex. I heard it is also more tolerant of moisture.

I don't know anything about Blackhorn 209 but the power belt bullet is one that can cause some accuracy loss with too much powder. It doesn't hurt any either to go up and down on bullet weight to find out what the rifle likes best. I see so many people make up there minds as to what they are going to shoot, that doesn't work very well let the rifle tell you what it likes best. Good luck and keep shootin!
