Firehyd - tell you son congratulations on his doe. Time spent in the woods with our kids is priceless. This is something they can do their whole lives and pass on to their kids.

Yeah, I heard they were going to change it also. Of course you know when you can only kill a doe, all you see is bucks! Always works that way! Next year should be more fun though having the chance to kill a buck.

    Default Buck

U think if they let the kids take a buck it should count for the one buck only or should they be able to get another in reg season?

Hope they have a mandatory hunters safety course for those youngins before they go to the timber. I think I'm right about this, but in Mo. if you are 11 years old, you must hunt with a person over the age of 18 and who has taken a hunters safety course if they were born after Jan 1, 1967. If you are 16 years or older, and want to hunt alone, you must take a mandatory hunters safety corse. I think you can take it on line, be tested and get certified on line. It is also held at places like the local Elks Lodges, etc., and it is a 10 hour course that covers ethics, safety, sportmanship, State laws, etc. It's a good thing.

They do have the mandatory hunters safety requirments, but you can also get an apprentice license where you don't have to have the safety classes. You can get three apprentice tags, but I guess it gives the kids a chance to see if they are even going to enjoy hunting before they take the class. I think they should have to take it regardless, but I don't make the rules, just abide by them!
