One thing I always have to tell myself every time I think I might want to crank my poundage up to get more speed.....
If I can't pull my bow straight back without pointing it towards the sky ...while sitting down....then there is no way I am going to be able to pull it back after sitting still in a tree.... for 4 hours.....in the freezing cold...with layers of clothes on.....with a bad case of 'buck fever'.....
What poundage I can draw standing in front of a target is different than the poundage I can draw in a real hunting situation.....
Visit your local pro shop to get measured for draw length and comfortable draw weight.....then shop for a bow with those specs...

Remember, a 5 or 10 year old bow was as hi tech as they came 5 or 10 years ago.
My wife shoots 35 lbs bow parker and steel force cut on impact broadheads, and it pounches through a 140 lb deer just fine. I shoot 60 lbs and my arrow goes through a deer even faster! They will all kill a deer.
A bigger bow is easier to shoot, 7+ inch brace is more accurate to shoot. I would say a $150 bow with everything at a pawn shop would be fine, brand is not so important, you must have the correct draw length, get measured at a bow shop. and never get to much poundage. You need to go out and practice .Shoot 100 arrows and at 70# you will not be able to do that. Arrows are very important they must be stright. Buy a dozen practice with 6 and save 6 for hunting.
good luck and have fun, archery is fun!!

I shoot Diamond Black Ice, love it, got it last year brand new, its the very first brand new bow I have ever bought and I have been bow huntin for twenty years, go to a local archery shop and be honest and upfront about your inexperience and needs, if he is a decent guy he will treat you right, I made the mistake of buying my new bow from a big outdoor retail store, luckily I knew what I was doing and what I wanted cuz the salesman was only interested in making a sale and kept pushing the most high priced bows, what I`m sayin,, if you go, take someone with you that is knowledgeable and will help you not get screwed over.

Oh yeah, and for my first bow. I had a Ben Pearson recurve when I was twelve, the thing was taller than I was, I used a two inch brad nail duct taped the the inside of the limb for a sight.. not the best in the world but it taught me alot, sight pic,eye/hand coordination and most of all PATIENCE!
