Default Finally bit the bullet after all these years

I have owned a Marlin 336 30 30 for a very long time , I got it as a teenager from my grandpa at around 13 in 1970 and this here little jewel of a saddle gun has provided pleasure for so many over the years its beyond imagination , I have loaned it out to lots of folks that all took deer with it and some were even wall hangers . Several tried to buy it off me but I held onto it until last night .
My son in law has been on the prowl for a very long time in search of an older original version of this little rifle and I guess they are in demand these days and pricey and difficult to find to some degree .
So I presented it to him for Christmas with the one rule in that anything EVER happens between him and my daughter the rifle goes to her, We shook hands on it and its now in his gun safe .
says he is going to take his last deer of the year with it next weekend ....

Can’t beat those old marlin levers. Have a couple myself.

Got an 1894 .44 mag, my favorite rifle to hunt with. Only leave it at home if I'm expecting to need to lob one over 100 yards.

I got my start on a Marlin 30-30,it was a Christmas present when I was 10 yrs old.I still have the gun in my cabinet, though it's been retired for many years,it's one of the guns that will be passed down the line.
I'm sure you and your son in law will drive home the safety aspect of these guns,( cocked once you jack a shell into it ).I hope many more deer are killed with it,and many stories reminisced in the yrs to come.

Cool! My brother and I gave my dad almost exactly the same gun this year. He's never owned a "deer" rifle. The one I got for him was made in 1978 and is in mint condition.

Yeah we thoroughly talked about the half cock setting and it has a thumb lever on the hammer as well, not to tricky to use like some versions of this type of fire arm

Glad you passed it down. They are getting pricey I had one as a kid and started looking around for one a few years ago and was shocked at how much they where asking for them. Finally found one but had to pay $375 for it. My dad paid $ 150 for the one I had as a kid but everything has gone up now day.
