Default 4/24/09 Oconee / Sinclair report

Started on Oconee at 10am and fished till 12pm. Started up on Sugar Creek and ended up on Lick Creek. Had fished Lick creek earlier in the week and caught some good fish, but caught a big GOOSE EGG in both location. Could not even get a bite. Met two nice fellows from down near Savanah spending the week fishing Oconee. They said they had a tough week with very few fish. Left Oconee and went up Crooked Creek on Sinclair. We caught 39. It was usually a fish on every cast under every dock. As usual it was all about quantity not quality on Sinclair. After the big goose egg on Oconee, the action on Sinclair was a welcome change. Crooked creek is on fire right now. The water temp is in the 70s, so they will shut down soon. Good luck and let me know how you did.

I will be on Sinclair in the morning with my 10 year old son hoping to shoot some docks in either Crooked Creek or Rooty Creek. I will let you know how we do.
It aint how big or how fancy your boat is, it's how many fish you can put in the frying pan!

We shot docks from Lick Creek to Sugar Creek to I 20 and only caught a dozen with just four keepers. What is wrong with OCONEE?

I agree with Earl. It was tough. Saw more snakes than fish.

Thank you for your reply about "What is wrong with Oconee ?" I thought it was just me. The snakes are on Oconee and Sinclair. They can make you hurt yourself. My fishing buddy was leaning too close to a dock and did not see the monster snake sunning himself. The snake rushed off the dock and missed my freind's head by inches. He will never let me live that one down. We had to clean the front seat and his pants before going to the next dock.

Hey Outlaw, PM me with that particular tactic!!! We trolled last Friday and shot docks yesterday with about the same results. I know a lot of excellent tournament fishermen that have been scrathing their head and discussing Oconee quite a bit this year. Just makes me want to move closer to West Point and Harding where the fish do what they are supposed to do.

I agree Oconee is terrible this year. Have been up four times and could add all the fish to maybe get one limit. I always catch good fish there..Just not yet this year. Will try to do it again on Sunday...
