For those of you who run Yamaha 50's, what RPMs are you turning at WOT? When I bought mine it had the wrong prop on it so I jacked the throttle up so it would plane out and I could fish the weekend. The end of the next week I got the right size prop in and I still havent got it zero'd back in. Im thinking it needs to be 5500-5800 sound right? At the moment I can run WOT w/ no trim and its hitting 6k and you can hear the rev limiter kicking in. If Iback down to 1/2-3/4 throttle and trim it 1/4-1/2 up the its all fine(RPMs in these cond. are anywhere from 55-5800). The boat is a 16ft G3.

Call PROPCO in Munroe Ga. and ask for their prop eng. Old nautical eng. that knows everything there is to know about props. He'll ask you ?'s a lot of ?'s about your boat and motor even your weigh. Let him digest the info and he'll tell you weather your over or under proped. He'll tell you the proper size and pitch for your specific boat, but if your red lining it tells me your under proped but that's my thought. Ask the experts........Good luck bud.....
Thanks, do you have a # for them? The prop that came on the boat was 10x15-G and the prop they sent me is 10 5/8 x 12-G, and both props are alum.

Thanks, I bought it used from a dealer up in Dublin Ga and he gave me 6month warranty on the engine. Im going to call him tomorrow and talk about whats going on before I do anything. Im done fishing for at least 2 weeks b/c of my final exams but I would like to get everything taken care of so I could fish the 3-4 days before my internship starts. What do yall think, should I call the man and express my concerns or does it sound like something simple

I bought my boat from Dublin Marine and they have always taken good care of me. I believe the man's name is Lou or Louie. Their mech. have always done a great job on my Fisher boat. Good luck with your prop.
