i think west point spawned in march...Harding has yet to spawn completly.. They should the next few weeks if the weather stays right. it seems like they are moving up again. cold front headed in again. I am just guessing but we caught some fat crappie full of eggs the past 3 days.. This weather and water fluctuations have them as confused as we are about them...i think![]()

It seems to me like the fish spawn in phases. The largest usually spawning in Feb/march full moon then second phase on the next full moon and in my opinion this happens for about 3 phases. I don't think they completely spawn out till may. Of course weather has the biggest hand in this but in general I think this is what happens.
To heck with work, lets go fishing.
Cleaned fish I caught on Talquin last Sat. and the females were laid out, cleaned fish this morning I caught yesterday and the females eggs were like apple sauce. Females I caught came from different creeks in Talquin so who knows. Water temps varied yesterday from 67 to 70 degress in 4 different creeks. Should know after talking to TNT on todays catch what condition the females are in depending on where his catch comes from. Talquin is a big lake with many creeks and coves..... I suppose it's over when it's over. SORRYDOG down there today also, wait for him to chime in......
They are still full of eggs here in my part of the state temps are finally climbing spawn should be here soon hope i dont miss to much of it

so fast and these cold fronts it was pretty cold the past few days on the hill but the water temp was around 68 in most spots
oh smitty i ll have to disagree we u about west point..lol
My turn! RH thanks for the call/tip Sat. morning. I had a total of 38 fish after two days of fishing. Saturday afternoon in Rockey Comfront (I think thats right) the bite was on for about two hours. I was fishing one area in 6-8 feet of water that was loaded with stumps. Most of the fish I caught was on road runners (which I seldom use) and black/yellow/fire tail. My guess is that the "FLASH" in muddy water. I only had one pack of the RR and after losing all of them it's was harder to cacth them. I caught very few on minnows and the ones I did were small. Once again, muddy water and a "FLASH" seem to be the key.
Now for the spawn. Confused is the only thing I can come-up with. Last two years I could tell you where/when/what the fish were doing. I caught two males in Freemen creek in 2ft of water and their tails were worn-out. One female that was busting with eggs. So my thought is that the fish closer to the dam haven't spawned yet (some have) but if the water temp will hold this week and no more water level increases it will be on. The ones in Rocky CK were mixed. Some had eggs, some didn't? I know that this weekend I have never caught some many "SMALL" fish before at Talquin.:D

All the fish we caught Saturday at Boy Scout were busting with eggs. Most of these fish were in the 1 1/2-1 3/4 lb range. Only saw a couple that were laid out all weekend. We caught a few smaller fish but not as many as others I talked with caught. We longlined both days and stayed in water 7-11 ft, ocassionally getting into 5-7 ft. Maybe that was the difference in not catching as many smaller fish. One of the guys staying at Rusty's this weekend found them in 20 fow and had a very nice catch in numbers and size. These fish are being caught in 2-20 fow....Makes ya scratch your head![]()
