    Default What kind of line?

Help. I am spending too much $$$ on my line. I currently use stren and go through about three-four mega spools a year.

Can I get the same quality from a cheaper line, or is that just wishful thinking? I was thinking about using something like Bass Pro Excel for about $20 would last me all year.

You'll get plenty of responses and suggestions on here ..I use the 4# and 6# Mr.Crappie line from Bass pro Shop. Reasonably priced and very dependable. I am thinking the 6# has 1900+ yards and the 4# has 3100 yards of line on it for $7.49 per spool at BPS....Welcome to the GA Board.

    Default AMEN to Mr Crappie

Mr Crappie works great as TNT said. I believe I purchased the very first spool they sold.

--But always keep a small spool of Gold Berkly Vanish for time when the bite is very slow. Use it as a leader. It ain't cheap!

Acidrain, I started out using berkley sensation and thats the best out there in my opinion but its $55 for 3000 yds. I still use sensation for shooting docks but wanting to save money on my trolling though I've switched to Ande premium mono. You get about 1900 yards in high vis green for $15. Haven't noticed one bit difference in my catches so I'm very happy with the Ande. If you want something that equivalent to Sensation, Ande makes a tournament grade line where you get around 2500 yds for $27. This is all 6lb line on a 1/4lb spool so you can tell the tournament grade has a smaller diameter but the same strength. The tournament grade only comes in yellow and low vis green though.

I've tried numerous other lines but other than sensation, ande has impressed me the most.

I agree withTNT. The Mr. Crappie line has been excellent in 4 and 6 pound line.

In the Mr. Crappie, are you using the Camo, or the High Vis?

YKK, were you using the green line Saturday? You seemed to be catching them real good. I was fishing with crappychappy in the Triton boat.

I'm satisfied with the 4lb. Stren, I just wanted something cheaper. It seems like I am always buying line. That could be because I usually have a couple of helpers fishing in the back (my boys).

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try the Wally Marshall, or the Bass Pro Excel. I suspect that they might be the same thing anyway. The Excel does come in clear blue flo. which I like.

Yeah I was using it saturday acidrain. I have it on every rod I fish with except my dock shooters. I wish them fish would have gotten at one depth and stayed there. One minute they were deep and the next they were shallow. Holla at me if you see me on the lake again. I'm bad about not paying attention to other boats around me when I'm catchin fish so holla at me next time. Always like putting a face with the screen names.
