    Default Jug Fishing @ Talquin

I fish private ponds (Aquariums) mostly but, every April we go to Oconee night fishing.A pontoon boat wired with lights all around powered by a Honda generator or 400W power inverter will spoil you when all you know is a Coleman lantern and a flashlight to bait your hook with.I just bought a Brinkmann Qbeam green Light but haven't tried it at Oconee yet? We set out jugs before sundown for Catfish on the way to our honey hole for a backup fishfry.I have never trolled for crappie but want to learn, just curious if anyone sets jugs out at Talquin and would it mess up the trollers ,I definitely wouldn't want to do that. Anyone night fish at Talquin with minnows ? Is the green light truly the "Evening fishing Secret"

    Don't Catchem all now !

All i use is a submersible green lite...works very well and keeps you hidden so others cant see that you're catching fish Haven't tried a green Q-beam , but i dont think it will work unless you can sink it about 4ft Dont try that

Jug fishing isn't legal anywhere in Florida according to the Fish & Wildlife rules. They're online and please check for yourself. "Freshwater fish may not be taken by use of any free-floating, unattached device, or by use of firearms, explosives, electricity, spear gun, poison or other chemicals. The taking of fish by underwater swimming or diving is prohibited. It is unlawful to sell, offer for sale or transport out of the state any freshwater game fish unless specifically permitted by the FWC, except that licensed anglers may transport two days' bag limit of legally harvested game fish."

    Exclamation Jug Fishing in Florida...

with a free floating jug is illegal. I'm not positive about this but I believe if you string them together (like a trotline) and anchor one end of the line to a stump or tie the line to your boat you would be legal..but I'd sure check with the local game warden before I tried it. We fish Talquin with yo-yos tied to nails driven into exposed stumps and mark the spots with empty water bottles painted with fluorescent paint and anchored to the same stumps with a short piece of fishing line. It makes them real easy to spot at night with a Q-Beam spotlight and also mark locations with a GPS. Have caught a lot of catfish this way at Talquin. The catfish seem to taste a lot better when caught during the winter there. They seem to develop a totally different taste once the water warms up.
