From what I hear, and not from experience, you will probably love it. I think Humminbird has had their problems with the GPS having a slow response time. But the way most of us fish, that should not be to much of an issue. I am kicking the idea of getting one also, but I dont have the $$$ saved up yet

you still have to catch'em but the si will put you in another world. It is amazing the detail you can see. I like the way it shows the ditches and chanel. you can pinpoint where you want to be. it will show you every thing under your boat. just getting to know what you are seeing takes some time but I love mine. The only problem i have is that I can't use it enough.

I have the 797 wish I had the 997. Bigger screen and more pixels make for a nicer picture

The main thing I tell people about them is that you need to be moving pretty good if you want a pretty picture...I'm talking about at least 2 mph up to about 5 mph....in other words you aren't gonna be longlining or spider rigging and seeing pretty pictures...put it on the console.....my $.02
