    Default Crappiefest from crip47

I’m sure glad I got everyone’s attention. That was the intent. First I’ll say that there is no swore grapes or hard fillings and I have not read any thing here in awhile. I hope a lot is being said. There is a lot of fine folks here and some of them are friends. But his is something that needs to be said. Every slabfest is good. we have someone to collect the money and weigh the fish. There is no one for the dinner and the dinner is what takes the work. When you go to dinner at church there is someone in charge. There is food to get ,the setup, the serving, the cleanup and put the place back in order. Hours, I know .we do it all the time. Now let me paint you a story. At Russell the tournament was good. Then we sat around hours waiting for dinner. Finely a lady got up and got things started. The day before she fall and hurt her ankle and was in pain. She Sent people to town to get food. (the fishing stunk) got things setup. Had to find someone to say grace then everyone eat and then left. She cleaned up the miss, Deliverd everyones pot, pans, fishing poles and trophies to them..All in pain. Do you know how many thank you’s she got.. I no because that lady is my wife. She helped some at talquin and would have been doing the same thing at blackshear but she was working a soup kitchen that day. Now for Blackshear, Great tournament. When it came to cleaning the fish Tom said his back was killing him and he would have to set to clean fish. Did anyone jump in. He cleaned or number one to the last and then cleaned the place up. All of you that no me know I don’t play the crip card. I have a broken back with aurthor in it with one arm. Do you no what it looks like to see 20 people watch you can fish. I’m not complaining, Im a do’er and a worker and I’ll be doing it at the next one. All we need is organization. Some one in charge. He can get someone in charge of cleaning fish,Someone for the setup and someone for the cleanup. And then they can get their helpers, It’s not hard when done right. I also know if people new that help is needed they would have stepped in. This was not posted to make anyone fell bad but the get you to think. Organization is not a hard thing. This post was done without a tear in my eye but start from the heart..We are the good, the bad and the ugly Steve Cherry

I agree 100 % Crip ,let's get better organized in that department, this was my first one so I did not know what to expect or do, if I'm there and something needs to be done, don't be afraid to tell me so, I will gladly jump in, I just didn't want to step on anyone's toes. Lets get it running like a well oiled machine.

I guess the only thing I can offer is an apolopy and a promise that I will not be at fault of letting this happen again when I am at one. Thank you for bringing this out into the open instead of allowing it to fester until there was a big blow-up. I also understand that many of us ASSUMED all this had been taken care of. But we all know what assuming does.

Please pass this apology on to your wife for the issue at Russell and a thank you for all she did.
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

Birddog, There is no apology needed. I also done let things bother me that much. But I will call it like it is.The tournaments are doing fine but as we grow we need to make things better. This is to big for any one person to handle. There is one thing I did forget to say and thats God bless all of you

Maybe the powers that be , can come up with a standardized list of list chores to do and as ask for vol. to fill the list as it progresses further towards these gatherings, then when it comes time there won't be any confusion over who's doing what.

Like Outlaw, this was a first with Crappie.com and i didn't want to get in anyones way nor step on their toes. My wife on the other hand is all about getting involved and appeared to have a great time pulling uncleaned fish from the coolers for cleaning as well as helping Skillet and his wife and Dimond and his wife wash the filets for cooking. Ragfly did ask for people to hang out and clean up after the feeding and people did just that. Maybe someone at the fish cleaning table should have spoke up for help as well. After all, first time attenders don't really know the in and outs of what goes on at one of these events (Ask and ye shall receive). I know now and will bring my filet knife to the next one and yall can stand back, give me room and watch the filets fly...LOL.
We had a great time and was not aware of a problem until we returned home and viewed the post. We hope we all can work past this and continue to have fishing fun and food in the future.
P.S. Ragfly, have you been in touch with JimmyS?

i wonder if a clipboard with a list can be put out with easy access.folks can sign up,or read what theyve been assigned to by the officers?
maybe even sticky a post before a slabfest letting folks type in whether they can help or not and what they want to do,then just put that info on the clipboard list at the fest so everybody is on same page?just a thought.i felt bad about not helping as i had to take my kids to warner robins right after the weigh in or i would have been cutting up fish with yall..

First, please forgive me for even posting to your board because I'm not even in Georgia. But I wish I was. The next time some of you guyes fish Talquin and I can make it I'll be there. The reason: I would like the companionship you fellows have. I don't have a local Floridian to fish with. So I'm envious. I spend more time reading the GA forum than all the others combined. You gentlemen have a good thing going and have some great friendships. I say all that to qualify my next statement.
In a perfect get-together, no one would have to be asked. Men would know that obviously the fish have got to be cleaned. Groceries have got to be bought. Menus have to be planned. Dishes got to be cleaned. Usually, when one person is working and the rest are sitting, it's because only one person is willing and the rest are waiting for someone else to get up and volunteer. Sometimes, we don't even notice when work needs to be done. You know how men get to talking and bullin around sometimes.
I'll bet you one thing, your get-togethers are only going to get better. People are now going to start noticing what needs to be done and they'll try to do it fairly. Sometimes we mens just don't be able to see thru the clouds.

    God bless you all.
PLease don't tell me to mind my own business......... I already know I should.
