I'm OK, after the people at the hospital got thru laughing and they figured out how to get the hooks seperated so they could push them thru and then remove them life was good. The hooks were in my throat about 2 hours which was the worst part of it.

As far as the boy goes, it was just as much my fault as his. We had been long line trolling for crappie for 3 days and had caught a lot of crappie and bass. at that point my 15 yr. old daughter and my 12 yr. old son wanted to bass fish. Of course, I was continually telling them how dangerous it was for 3 people in a boat throwing rattle traps. Look behind, beside and in front all the time. Well Dad didn't know that the boy was holding his rod with about 4' of line hanging of the tip behind me and I did not follow my own instructions to look behind me. My back cast caught his rod and the whip forward brought his lure up under my chin and the result is the picture. It shook him up pretty bad and it was hard at first for me to keep my mouth shut while I was trying to figure out what happened.

I pulled both his and my operators card and we are being retrained on the proper operation of casting crankbaits with 3 or more people in a boat. He had tears running down his cheeks on the way to the hospital and at that point I congratulated him on the 230 lb. Big Mouth catch and he asked how I could joke about something like that. Oh well, stuff happens.

Give a man a fish he'll eat for the day, teach a man to fish he'll forget about eating!
