    Default Oconee - 3/1 & 3/3

Didn't make it out friday night like I had planned. Saturday... well it just plain stunk. Fished hard as I knew how on only managed 2 crappie. Waved the white flag around 3-4pm and headed home. Fished lick creek till 11 and swords from 12-4. Marked tons of fish in the channels but I guess they were sleeping b/c they surely wasn't eating.

There's nothing like a tough day of fishin on oconee to remind you that your not quiet as good as you thought you were. I recommend a trip to Oconee for anyone that thinks they've got crappie fishin figured out.

Wanted to put my dad on some big uns today so I took a chance and went back to lick creek this morning. We fished from 7-1 and caught 21. Most were over a lb. Had one that was 1 lb 14oz and several more 1 lb and a halfs. The ones we caught were good but it was tough sledding in that wind.

Fish were down deep holding tight in the channels in the coves. Most fish were caught 17-22' down in 25-30' of water. Tenn shad was the hot color.

lol, I hope thats it. I think they waitin on some warm water that seems to be a lonnnnnnnnnnnng way off.

If they ever do make it to the shallows I'm not going to know how to catch em. Been fishin too long in 17-22' down deep. Guess we'll figure it out though.

Well they cant go any deeper unless they start layin on their side. I'm sure this weather is just going to screw them up even more.

You're right about Oconee wearing you out. Never seen a lake that can turn on you like that. Wore me out again Sat. Does seem the lake was better for me 5 or 6 years ago than last couple or 3. But then someone's still catching while I'm still fishing. I seem to have only one good trip for every 3 or 4 times out - but there are some 'nice ens' there if you can find em. Jim
