went to Nichols out of Pavo yesterday, first time there.Started out with minnows ... nothing. Than started trolling jigs ...nothing but kept trolling. Wife in the back caught one, than another one. Ok, what color you got on back there? Replied, kind of a light green with white , thinking acid rain I tie one on. Still nothing, she gets two more.Trolling along 15 minutes later 3 more....wait a minute, I stop the boat and ask her for her rod, I reel up and she has on a green with a white strip beetle spin.Whats going on here,a beetle spin? And I just use them for mostly for bluegill. My box with the beetle spins was home, she tied it on before we left the house because she thought it was ----"pretty and cool looking". Neighbor who was trolling beside us than saw what she had on, so he tied one on too as he wasnt havening any luck either.Dang if he didnt start catching them too on a beetle spin, when nothing else worked.
Beetle spins = 11 Jigs,minnows,kitchen sink = 0

Isn't that how it usually goes? Sometimes we think too much and make it harder than it really is, then it takes our wives or kids to teach us something new.
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO ONLY FISH ON WEEKENDS!
On Oconee back in the late 70's when the lake 1st filled I had the same thing happen to me.
I trolled jigs then minnows and even tightlined over some brush piles with no luck.
I took the boat up into a cove that had a small creek and tied on a Beatle Spin (Black with a Yellow stripe) trying to catch a small bass or bream and ended up with 12 of the largest Crappie to this day I have ever cought. I went back the next day and did it again. I tried again the following weekend but they where gone.
I don't think I've ever been without a Beatle Spin in my tackle box since that day.
I have cought a lot of crappie with them especially on a pond but never like that one weekend.

You never know. I tried beetle spins yesterday(black and char.), and did not have any luck with them!
Take your kids hunting and fishing, and you won't be hunting your kids
I taught my daughter to learn to fish using a beetle spin when she was 5 yrs old, now she will be 34 this year & has a 7 yr. old daughter & a 3 yr. old son. I'm trying to get myself back in good health so I can take them out & start them off using a beetle spin.
