Default Fine Tuning a Garmin 240

Several people from Georgia asked me questions concerning fine tuning a Garmin 240. I decided to answer them all in this thread.
    1. Turn up the contrast so that all the images on the screem will be just a little darker.
    2. Do not use the auto-depth range when searching for crappie. Set the depth to twice the depth of the water that's under you. Example: If you are in water 12 feet deep, set the depth range to 25 feet. That will turn up the power and increase sensitivity.
    3. Gain/sensitivity is usually controlled by the computer. Manually adjust it up to at least +2 or +3.

That's what I do to be able to see crappie, shad, schools of shad, bream, thermocline. You may need to do a little playing around with yours.

In super shallow water my unit's don't respond to adjustments very well. I get a lot of clutter.

    I hope this helps.
