Well hello all you Crappie fishing guy's and gal's. I have checked this site out so much and have read a ton of great fishing info that I had to join yall.
I live in North Atlanta- the Suwanee area- and have been fishing Lake Lanier for about 8 years for crappie. I used to be a big time bass fisherman but along the way I have found that crappie fishing is so much more challening and more fun that I am now stictly a crappie fisherman.
As I said I have been reading this site for a long time and have been very impressed with the info everyone shares. As a matter of fact I have learned so much from you folks and I have praticed so many new techniques that I have to share a story with you. A little over a year ago I was on the Chatahoochie river side of Lake Lanier - hence my board name- and me and my partner were fishing drop shot rigs on a steep bank with a blow down on it. When wham, I got a bite at what I thought was a big bass, but low and behold one of the prettiest crappies I have ever seen was on the end of my line. We netted the fish and I was amazed at how pretty and colorful the fish was. The blue and purple hues were just incredible, but the size of the fish was just so pretty. Well if you fish Lake Lanier you know that there is good crappie fishing but this one was just unbelievable. I looked at my partner and said we got to go get this fish weighed on certified scales. So we packed up and went to the local DNR just to see if the fish was maybe, just maybe, a lake or state record. Well while it is not a state record it sure was a new Lake Lanier lake record of 3lbs 5oz. I was just in disbelief when the DNR ranger stated that it was a new lake record and that we had to have the fish measured and the paperwork to be filled out. What an experience of a lifetime!!
But like I said if it was not for this forum and the good people who share thier thoughts and ideas about crappie fishing then I would not have been in such a position to catch that fish. So to everyone who has posted any information concerning crappie fishing on this forum, I want to say thatnks and keep getting the word out on new tricks and tactics to catch this great species of fish.

That's awesome! Congratulations and welcome aboard. We look forward to you posting often. Please come to Blackshear if you can.

Thanks everyone for the very nice welcome! As I've said this is a really good group of folks on this site.

girlsfishtoo - I would really like to fish the Blackshear tourney but I cannot this time but I look forward to joining in a few tourneys down the road.

Score 300 - Yes I fish out of the Clarks Bridge ramp for almost 7 years now and I usually go up the Hooch as far as posible when the water is up.

I will try to report as often as I can for that area of the lake and let everyone know what is working at the time.

Again it is nice to be on this site with everyone.
