Default Trolling Motor Mount Advice Needed

My 16' alum Fisher Marine has the seats mounted in the floor, not on platforms. Similiar to Bass Pro Crappie Special. I finally retired my antique foot control Motor Guide and tried to put on a Minn Kota Hand control. My legs just won't let me use a foot control anymore. My front console is only 20" deep and has an 18" raised box to mount the trolling base. Only 29" from console to front seat. The base of this thing is 25" long, then another 31" of lifting arm and motor. Even if I mount it with 6" overhang on front it still extends about 2" past the side of the seat and really crowds the front fisherman. And most of the 31" is heavy channel iron and the head of motor. That seems like just too much weight to be suspended in air. Anyone else have this problem ?? I am thinking about just using a regular stern mount troller with the head turned around. I would have to add some kind of bracket to attach to. Anyone else use this ? How do you mount the transducer on the motor if you keep taking it off and on ? Ideas anyone ?? Thanks, Jim

you can git a bracket that opens up to take the place of the clamp brackett . then add a extinchon on to the handle . that is what i have on the frunt of my pontoon boat . it folds up into the boat like a foot controll motor . they make a motor that can be controled with a hand controll . crip 47 has one . coms in handy if you fall out of the boat :D
i will alwayes recover and fish

Sage - thanks for the info. I have an extension handle but would like to know more about the bracket that opens up and allows you to just lay the motor back. That would be so much better than having to raise and lower all time. Where did you get this bracket - Minn Kota ? Bass Pro ? I have not seen anything like this but it would be great. Thanks, Jim
