Fished Evans PFA yesterday afternoon from about 3:00 to 6:00. Fought the wind for 2 hrs trolling did not produce one fish. Finally started jigging/pitching into some heavy cover in the shallows 2-3'. Produced bout 12 crappies!!! Using a chartruese head/pink body/yellow tail, triple ripple or Jiffy Jig. Didn't seem to matter which lure as long as the color was the same. I had minnows...they wouldn't touch em! Kept bout 1/2 of what I caught and 90% were full of eggs, 2-3 even seemed to have already started fanning, tail was reddish. Gonna try em again in the morn to see if I can find them 2-3lbers they claim are in there. Pictures to follow later.....(wife has camera)
Great report. Any idea on water temp? Things fix'n to heat up in the shallows!!!!!
Were these black as a crows toe like the last ones?
Hey Slabber do you need a partner in the morning?
Birddog,
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
yeah they were dark colored again, water was "stained", try to put pics of one up this afternoon
We need to talk!! I like fishing over there. Would love to go over there and try my jigs on em!! Might go tomorrow.
slab_slayer1....sent you a more detailed pm, but fishing was horrible there this weekend, wind/weather had a lot to do with it I think. Yeah, we could go and try some jigs sometime I have not had a lot of luck trolling, but maybe you could give me some pointers.
i would like to try that place . do ya fish in the biggest lake there ? when i get my boat fixed ( maybe friday ) i may just go give it a whirl , not too far from me
