    Default Handheld GPS

Just purchased a Garim etrex legend. Bought it just for marking bambo condo's that I'm going to put out. After playing with around the house, it don't seem to acurte. When I mark a waypoint it will take me back but it seems to be 15 to 20 ft. off. Does anybody out there one of these. Does that sound right? This is the first gps I'ved owned. Aren't they suppose to get closer than that? Somebody help me, please!!!

Make sure that waas is activated on your legend.

Using waas will tighten it up but I doubt if you will get much closer than 10' to 15'.

    Budman,

I used to use a Garmin 76 to measure crop land, it came with (a government supplied item) backpack that contained a battery, reciever, and external antenna. With the pack/reciever, it was within 0 to 3 meters accurate. Without the pack/reciever, just the hand held 76, it was 3 to 30 meters accurate.

It is my understanding, and I saw it in action yesterday, they now have (federal government) a satellite that some of the GPSs' read off of, and it is supposed to be within 0 to 1 meter of accuracy. I don't know what name brands can read this accurate, but if I find out, I will post them.

Be sure to do what others have said, enable the wass. dog1

I have the Garmin blue legend. To be honest, I'm not very pleased. The GPS on my Eagle 480 is much more accurate.
To heck with work, lets go fishing.
