Up the Rivers?
Has anyone heard of the crappie, white bass or hybrids starting their run up the hooch river above west point or up the oconnee river towards highway 15? I know it is a little early but i have heard rumors of them being caught that far up already but didn't know if there was any truth to them.

Welcome to the forums. I hadn't posted on your newbie thread so I want to welcome you.
When the days start getting longer and the rains start making the currents stronger those migrating fish all start moving upstream. They just wait for water temps before spawning. That is my opinion. I also think the bigger/older ones are the first to get upstream. The hybrid/stripers are running early in Columbus below the dam on upper walter F George. I meet some guys walking up the river walk this morning after the rain with a wagon full of them but no crappie.. When i was young the crappie were caught by the hundreds there but not as many in the past 10 years..
Dustin Pate posted they have been catching upriver on WP the past few weeks.

The crappie are starting to bite good upriver at West Point. The linesides are another 3-4 weeks out. Water needs to start tickling the upper 50's to get them in the mood. Look for the largest fish around the 3rd week of March.
