Boy, I thought I knew a little about simple wiring and whatnot but putting tis new T/M is kicking my tail and making me feel stupid.
Okay here's the question, I pulled the wire last night and were the old T/M plugged in the front the wire is 8awg. So this is 8 gauge wire, correct? Now will this work or am I going to have to rewire my boat with 6 gauge? or can I get the circut breaker and tire it in and make it work with 8 gauge?
thanks for any infoto help this dumb redneck out, I am about ready to say the heck with it and fish with what I got.
My grandpap told me growing up..."Son, God doesn't deduct time from your life, spent fishing"
It will work. You really don't need a breaker anyway. Mine is tied into my pushbutton fuse box. Your only looking at 2 awg difference anyway. If you want to use a circuit breaker then it would be 8 in and 6 out. You or the motor won't see a difference. Remember the old trick with a blown fuse??? Use a gum wrapper,,,it will work,,,not to worry.

I went thru the same questions when I upgraded from 43# MG to MK PD55#, finally just installed the PD55 using the original wiring and fuse (fuse is sized for the wiring already in your boat). Haven't had a lick of trouble and I have got on it max several times for a run just to check it and felt the wiring for heat, no problem. If you pop the fuse, be cautious about gum paper, may do a smoke check. Carry a couoke replacement fuses and always check for loose connections if you pop a fuse.
My fuses which are really not fuses just reset switches anyway.
I was only using the gumwrapper thing as an example,,I would never use one myself. I was just making an example,,,,,,You will be surprised with anything in electronics what works and what does not.
