Default Sinclair or Oconee Nite Bite?

I'll be making a trip to one of these lakes tomorrow night. Anyone been this week? We did real good a couple of weeks ago at Sinclair, but as usual it was all numbers and not much size. Thinking about trying Oconee. Only fished it once at night this year and only brought home about 32 w/ not much overall size. Just wondering if anyone was catching any quality fish up there????

Chappy you might have saw my post a couple weeks ago but we did really well up around brantley's. Put in and go over to the right... lots of standing timber on the bottom(not on the map) in the mouth of a small cove and the river channel raps right up next to the bank. Me and my buddy caught 101 there on a firiday night. Most were 9-11" but we had a good bit of 11-14" fish with one just over 15" and one just under 15". I've fished there and up in lick creek several times this year and did good everytime. Across from long shoals next to the channel has been good for me too this year. I may be going up tomorrow night too if I can talk the wife into it. I'll be in a panfish bass tracker with lots of rods/nets stickin up.

    Good luck.

YKK thanks for the help. I know where you are talking about up front Brantley's. I do alot of trolling in that area during the winter, but have never tried it at night. We usually fish across from Long Shoals at night on Oconee. There is some good channel bends and plenty of timber there. I believe we might try it there. If you happen to be in this area, look for either a white Carolina Skiff or a white Triton. Thanks again for the help and maybe I'll see you on the water. Let me know how you do if you go and I don't see you.

Thanks Lakelifer. If you don't mind me asking? Were you fishing dock lights or from an anchored boat with lights over the side? Sounds like you had a decent trip with all the trash fish. I've learned to deal with the size of the crappie on Sinclair. Ocassionally, you can catch some quality fish, but usually fish Sinclair for numbers more than size. Thanks for the report. I'll post a report and maybe some pics regardless of where I go. Thanks again for the help.

We did aight last night... Brought home 70. Bite was slow and steady all night. Just never would turn on for us so we could limit on out. Shad were out in full force last night. Once it got dark I started catching shad and fished with them basically all night. Trash fish aka hybrids were out like crazy too. Must have caught 30+ of them and 30+ small cats. All the crappie we caught were 9-12". Had one pig that looked like another 15" that tore loose right before I dipped her but that was the only sho nough slab we saw. Nice batch of fish though. I'll try to post pics later on today or tomorrow...

Ykk.....I saw your truck at what's left of Brantley's. We had what I consider a real good night. We probably caught 30 to 40 hybrids as well, probably the most I've ever caught in one night. Our report was pretty much the same as yours. We had a ton of baitfish. We had one crappie that weighed 1.12 on hand held scales. The rest of our crappie were decent any where from 1/2 lb. to a lb. with a couple a little over a lb. Our fish were any where from 8 to 12 feet deep in 32 feet of water. The bite was best from 12 to 2 o'clock for us. Perfect night for fishing. Not an abundance of boat traffic, very little wind, and a new moon. Thanks for the report and keep us updated when you make it back.
