Got the painting started on my boat today. Painted the part that'll be subject to getting skinned up using truck bed liner (I'm planning on doing some rough river areas.). I'll pick up the rest of the paint to do the bottom tomorrow.
I also managed to sell the entire lot of flea market knives my Dad gave me and made about enough money to get me a brand new trailer, so I'll be ordering that this week.
Won't be long I'll have it on the water the way it's looking now. Rigging shouldn't take that long, if I pick up everything at one time and keep busy at it.
Dang, it's frustrating being in college and working part time. Gotta do things a lot slower, but in the end, it'll be worth it.

It will pay off in the end. Keep working on it all man. Plus you need to build you some condos out of bamboo. It makes it easier to locate the fish if you build them a house. or 2. or 3. or 4 or.....you get the point. Drop it now and add to it over your years and you will have some honey holes to take your grandchildren catching crappie.Originally Posted by DaveInGA

Smitty,
Thanks for the tip on the bamboo. There's a big patch of it right over on Atlanta Highway ten minutes from where I live. Do you have a picture of what it looks like when it's assembled? I am crafty, but I haven't ever made anything out of bamboo, but I'd certainly be willing to put something like that together.

Dave, you should get you a few 5 gallon buckets and feel them about a third of the way up and then stick several sticks of bamboo in the wet cement. I would let it dry overnight. If you assemble them right it should end up looking like a large bush about 6 to 8 feet tall.
Ragfly,
Thank you for the information. I have a good handful of five gallon buckets (I tend to gather them up from "where-ever" when I get a chance, because they're so handy.) I'll do that. Simple and easy enough to make several. Will the various public park lakes let you bring them in, such as Fort Yargo park?
I don't want to get into trouble with a gate guard, but hear Sandy Creek, which is about a 15 minute drive from me, is pretty good for crappie.

Dave, I'm not sure if Fort Yargo will let you put anything in it. They do put fish attractors in every year and will give you a map at the office with the locations. I've fished that lake 8 times this year and have not caught a single crappie. I keep waiting for Bear creek to open up. When they created the lake back in 2000 it was stocked with crappie and bass. I expect it'll be great fishing once it opens up. You should also try Sandy Creek over in Athens. My son and I caught over 90 in about 2.5 hours one evening. No size, but alot of fish. I'm back in town now, we still need to hook up.
To heck with work, lets go fishing.
score300,
I'm starting summer quarter of school today, but I'll be home by 2PM. Just give me a call when you're ready. I'll be busy with it being an 8 instead of 10 week curriculum, but I should have some time on Fridays or Saturday mornings and can steal a bit here and there during the week. We can check out where we're at with our projects and make some plans to work on the boats.
