This young hero lived here in Fitzgerald. I would like to use this space and time to Honor Him and his fallen comrades.

Two soldiers from Georgia were among nine members of the 82nd Airborne Division to die when suicide bombers attacked an outpost in Iraq, military officials said Thursday.
One of them, Pfc. Ryen King, 19, of Bowersville, was the second member of the 2005 class of Franklin County High School to be killed in Iraq in six months.
Also killed was Sgt. Randell T. Marshall, 22, of Fitzgerald in south Georgia.
Two suicide bombers struck the building in Diyala province on Monday, causing it to collapse. Twenty others were wounded in the attack.
All were members of the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Bragg. The 3,500-member brigade, one of four infantry brigades in the 82nd Airborne Division, deployed to Iraq in August.
It was the largest single death toll for the 82nd Airborne since the Vietnam War and marked the single greatest loss of life for American ground forces in Iraq since December 2005.
King was a two-sport athlete and member of the school's Young Democrats. King's father, Jerry King of Bowersville, said his son told him he felt a "need to serve."
King had five sisters, ages 2 to 20, and was a role model for them, his father said.
"He had a lot of sense of responsibility protecting his sisters," King said. "He really cared a lot about them."
The other Franklin County High graduate killed was Pfc. Daniel Allman II, 20, of Canon, who died in November when his Humvee was hit by an improvised explosive device.

My prayers go out to the families.
"This Well Defend"
Brenda and I are praying for those families. Our hearts anad prayers sure do go out to the families of thesae drave young men for their ultimate sacrifice.
Thoughts, prayers, and sincere gratitude to the family and friends of all our fallen heroes. May their memories be alive in your hearts and minds. We the American people salute you and their sacrifice.
God bless the "land of the free and the home of the BRAVE."
Bob
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson
Our thoughts and prayers are with this HERO's family. Thank God we have men and women that are willing to put it all on the line to protect our freedom and safety.
I got this from a movie the other day, but it is fitting here: A victim unexpectedly finds himself in harm's way, but a HERO intentially puts himself in harm's way. Having felt a "need to serve" and then doing so, he was already a HERO. My hat goes off to this young man, and the other men and women who so selfishly defend what we so often take for granted.
All give some and some give all. My prayers go out to his family and friends. There is nothing more honorable than to give your life for your country. Sad thing.

It sometimes is very hard to say the right words when we have lost a loved one, especially in the time of war. Every day I feel the lost of our military men and women. Being a retired 1SG and remembering having to participate in a death notification is truely one of the hardest things I have done. Im so proud of all our service men and women, a day doesnt pass without thinking about them. My prayers, thoughts and wish's goes out to this young man and his family. He may be gone from God's earth but he will never be forgotten.
