Default Anyone catching catfish while trolling?

I've been surpised at the number of cats I have been catching while trolling recently. I caught 8 that I kept Monday afternoon, two of which were close to 2lbs each, and must have thrown back 7 more. Yesterday, I threw back at least 5-6, most of them blues. One of them was even caught trolling in 35' of water!

What are you using as bait? I have not caught many on jigs except for a 22 lb flathead. I have caught quite a few channels when trolling Bandits in the summer time.

Tip your triple ripple with a minnow and you can really catch a mess of cats trolling. I catch more catfish than crappie doing this. It gets so bad on Tobo in the early sring that I quit tipping my jigs.

Yeah, you can definitely tell when its a catfish and not a crappie! I usually throw the kitties back, as I am not a big fan of cleaning them. I don't mind catching the bigger ones, though, as it is a lot of fun on ultralight rods and 4lb test!
