Default EVENTFUL DAY ON LAKE OCONEE (VIDEO)

Yesterday Jim and I fished Lake Oconee for only the second time this month. There have not been many reports from the lake lately so we began looking for fish on the north end of the lake. We started fishing about 7:45 a.m.. The water temperature was 66 degrees. We combo trolled as usual and found some fish but the bite was very slow. We had 4 good fish in the live well after about 4 hours of fishing. Finally around noon we found some "hungry" fish and from noon until 2:30 we caught 16 fish. We ended the day with 20 good fish 11-13 inches in length. We caught most of the fish in a cove in 16-18 FOW. We were fishing 8-10 feet deep. The day wasn't without some crazy moments all caused by my "lack of sense". While both of us were re-rigging and not paying attention I was able to hook us up with a boat dock and the pontoon boat it housed. We had rods sticking under the boat dock and fishing line around propeller on the pontoon boat. Jim managed to get us pushed back away from the dock while I stood there looking stupid. With fishing rods scattered all over the boat I managed to step on one of my nice trolling rods and broke the tip. Oh but I wasn't finished yet! We both managed to get everything re-rigged after about 20 minutes and started back fishing. Amazingly, the fish were still biting and I hooked up with a good fish. In the process I had a rod in each hand with a fish on one of them. I placed the other rod in the rod holder and managed to knock it in the water while fighting the fish on the other rod. I lost both the fish and another nice trolling rod and reel. The good news is that we had a great day and made it home safe in spite of my ineptitude.

Good day and video! You should have put the boat dock and pondtoon boat on the video. That sounds like something that I would do.

Hobo we found fish in a cove that happened to be sheltered by the wind which is rare on Oconee. It rained long enough for us to put on our rain gear and then it quit.

Thunder I couldn't put the boat dock incident in the video. Some of the language was salty.

Great report...I have been wondering where you have been. And we have all had those type days and "salty language" doesn't really help but it makes one feel better. lol My last trip to Blackshear I broke a rod as well and found out I have to replace my trailer bunks.
