    Default Itching for Oconee

I have an itch that just has to be scratched. I am sick of sitting at home and I hear Lake Oconee calling my name. I will be heading up there to fish on Jan. 21, 22, and 23. Will be putting in at JR's and concentrating on the Lick Creek area with maybe an excursion to Sugar Creek and Swords area.
Anyone else going to be around the lake fishing those days? Would like to meet up and chat over a cup of coffee or get a bite to eat.

Jim, I might be up there on the 23rd if I get my boat put back together by then.

A few low 70 degree days in a row and it will be game on. Can't wait. It has 38 degree water temp. up there now. No one and I mean no one is catching anything up there right now. Ice is in the coves up from Swords. Mr. George Cox (Big George) that has been a fixture fishing up there has sadly passed away a few nights ago. He had cancer. His funeral will be Sunday at Victory Tabernacle in Conyers. Doug Nelms is officiating the service.

Sorry to hear about Big George. As to Oconee I hope to get some GOOD REPORTS from you. I have been spending too much time at Sinclair. I need to get to Oconee with the expectation of catching something. The last trip I made up there I caught 3 all day. I can only drink so much coffee while watching the lines trolling along behind. I am afraid if I don't get some action I might fall asleep and tumble over into the lake. Go get them and tell us all about it, then 25-30 of your best fishing friends will come help you out.

Ok, the trip is definately on. If anyone else is fishing Oconee I will be in a Tracker ProCrappie. It has crappie.com in white lettering on each side of the boat. Give me a holler if you see me. If by chance the fish are biting I may stay til Sunday.

I know Papa that's why I give the bad reports, I keep my honeyholes secret that way. Just kidding, I will report some good uns when the fishing begins to pick up. It shouldn't be very long. Jim not trying to discourage you by my last post. The water may have time to get right in temperature by the time ya'll go at the end of the week. The word is they are there but in lockdown mode with this superchilled water. With high in the mid 60's over the past few days it should be on the climb. The firstfruits up there as you know are huge. I had cabin fever the past month and final broke down and started fishing anyway. Good luck and I will be watching for the Pro Crappie boat with crappie.com on each side.

    Hey Countrytime,
I will have my laptop with me. If I get on them I will post and hope to see everyone show up. I have no secrets when I fish. I learn by watching others and hope they learn something from my style of fishing. All I want to do is get out and do some fishing on my favorite lake. Yea, I like to catch fish, but I sure enjoy the relaxation regardless.
