Finally got back on the lake for a little while today. Did some riding and some fishing. Caught something today I don't ever want to catch while running at night! Found this floating between Cedar and Collins in the middle of the lake. My stomach sank when I saw no one was in the boat.
Thank God no one seems to have fallen overboard. There was no tackle or anything else in the boat that indicated anyone had been in the boat in a while. Seems to have broken loose from a dock somewhere up the lake. Called DNR, but took them way too long to call back about this dangerous object floating in the lake not to mention what could have been worse.
I ended up having to tow it back to Cedar Creek boat ramp and tied it off to the dock. DNR finally called and said they would come pick it up and investigate it more. There was no registration on this boat. I wish folks would take better care of what they have. That could have caused a very nasty accident and is not the 1st time one has been floating in the last two years.
Anyway did manage to catch a few and I was surprised to find them only 15-20' down in 35-40 FOW. They spit up some shad in the live well. Had a nice mess of fillet size ones. Water temps got up to 41 today. I pushed minnows for the first time in a long time today and the weather was perfect for it.
If anyone gets to go, be careful on the main lake. There was several floating logs out there too and some big mats of grass.
Man its good to see a pic of a fish... Cant even remember the last time I caught one. So sad...
You did a good deed taking that boat in. I found a friends Ranger bass boat floating in the middle of a river one time, his 150hp was gone and the numbers taken off.I called him on the cell and towed it in.They took it down the canel to the river and stripped it.Only thing we could figure out was they used the trolling motor during the night to slip away on the quiet side.Police never did find the motor. Wonder if that is what happened with the one you found judgeing from my past experiance? All they took off of his was the engine, trolling motor and electronic's were still on it.They had to be good to lift a 150 off that transome and transfer it to another boat is all I can say.
Way to go Dan, You definitly saved someones boat and possibly someones LIFE...glad to see pull in something other than a boat:Dnice fish
Dan you are the man my friend, glad to see you havent lost your touch when it comes to catching fish or boats.
