I guess it all depends on what type of fishing you prefer and what your set up for.
Your in the right place.
My first suggestion would be to tell everyone about your equipment.
That would give a better idea for everyone what direction to point you in.
There are several great links all over this site to give you guidance.
Welcome to the site!

My best advise would be for you to send a PM to a fellow named FalconSmitty on this site and go on a couple of his guided tours. He's about and hour and half north of you in Columbus/Phenix City. He's a master, I doubt anyone would disagree. His home lake is Lake Hardin, but I know he's familiar with several other lakes.
If you want to learn about Crappie fishing first hand... and if Smitty is available, he's your guide. No one does it better. Not to mention he's a really great fellow.
I'll also suggest JAFACMAN. He's in Macon and pretty good at it too.
I know many others on here are pretty good at it too, but don't want to speak for them.
Also, in Macon we have a monthly mini-tourney at lake Tobosofkee. I'll be more than glad to share my boat with you and let you see what I've learned.
Just send me a PM and also watch the Georgia page for dates. Be glad to have you along for the day. Not promising any fish, as tobo is very slow at the moment... but you can see what I'm doing that I learned from those that knew it before me. :-)

POFISHER definetly had you headed in the right direction. Ten years from now you will still be learning. That is one thing that makes crappie fishing so rewarding and frustrating. Welcome to the ADDICTION!

Welcome to the board
You need to realize that most of us are set up for tournament style fishing which consists of highest tech or the highest quality graphs, trolling motors, rods and holders. Money is always in shortage once this addiction gets into your blood. Knowledge seems to be in shortage at times also, no matter how long one has done this.
Most of us fish artifical jig's when trollin, pitching or shooting under docks and live bait when stationary. Every technique avaliable will work in ponds and lakes the same...Morphing the different techniques to fit your own style is best. Word of advise, get low interest rates, a good banker, 20 poles and in the boat with several members from here to learn first hand.:D
Visit a Slabfest event if you can, a wealth of knowledge can be obtained in just one event and it's free of charge...

Welcome to the family here. Like pofisher and jafacman have said the best way to learn is to meet up and fish with a few of us here. Some one always has an open seat in the boat. All you have to do is ask and you will be suprised at all the info you will learn. like pofisher has said we have regular $10 per boat pot tournys at Tobo in Macon .You do not have to fish the tournys if you wish just come out and fish and talk to and learn from those there. We will be more than happy to help you any way we can. Again Welcome

Thanks Guys....
MAN, I AM PUMPED!!!! i am going out in the morning to give it a shot. i have a ranger bass boat, and it is set up for fishing bass tournaments.. 40 horse mariner, 2 humingbird fish finders, and a trolling motor.... i dont think i am missing much on the boat except maybe some of the right tackle.i dont have the 783 rods that i have seen people use but i do have 5 small micro-type reels that i planed on using...i stocked up on some jigs and minnows tonight ....how fast do you troll and how deep????? well thanks alot for welcoming me here and the invites on your boat......

for trolling you need pole holders .fornow guess you can hold them or maby lay them down on the deck . could loose them if a big fish hits hard like a stripper . tie a heavy line to it and to the boat.speed right now could be bearley mooving or sitting on top of a brush pile anchored.
