Default What tactics are you using right now? stained water and currents?

Fay changed our lakes to stained and all the water is creating stronger currents. After this storm how are you gonna catch'em?

I'm going to start push 6 rods slow .03-.07 with jigs tipped with minnows or sprayed with fish oil and plain minnows also going to drag 2 cranks along behind me. if all else fails i'll go to my smittylining(tightlining my way) dang it I'll try something1

This summer has been the same as always for me, very tough. But i see the good times coming very soon. Cooler water temps and stained water is what i been waiting for, but it will take about a week for the slabs to get use to the change.

Smitty,
We had good luck with blk-white-yellow and pink and chart jigs at Sinclar when the water was real muddy.

Default Trolling

Hey Smitty,

I have been doing pretty good long lining Bitsy Minnows (crank baits) that I get at Wal-mart. I have 5 or 6 different colors and they are 1/8th oz. Not a great number of fish but slabs. Got 2 at 15.5 inches and a couple a little smaller. Water 84 and depth was right at 13'. Having fun fishing out of the boat I bought from TNT. Once I get my plugs for my night lights installed it well be totally completed and I will post a couple pictures.

Smitty I have not been fishing for close to 2 weeks and its about to get to me. Me and my dad went riding around this morning and thought I would drive over 280 bridge to see how bad the water was. Well, I had a pleasent surprise. The water was smooth as glass and not at all stained or no where near muddy. I called the power damn and they said they are only running 2 generators. I did not see one single boat on the water. I think everybody got the same idea as me. Everybody must be scared of all the rain we got. Lake Blackshear looks great and there is hardly any current. If any of ya'll want to come and go fishing give me a call and we will hunt those slabs down.

I have not been in several weeks. My partner and I are considering going tomorrow just to get out. We are thinking about trolling some flats in the middle of LakeOconee. We plan on using a variety of jigs to see what might tempt them. If no action we will probably troll a steep drop off that has a goo bit of underwater structure and humps to see if they are hanging out there.

Other than that we may drop a miller lite sign off the side of the boat and see what it attracks. Trouble probably.

I am planning on going south this weekend, but if my plans change, I may have to try a night stalk at Blackshear.
