Default Talquin/Fay Update

On Friday, Lake Talquin was lowered 15" in preparation for Fay. On Saturday afternoon, the dam gates were opened up to put the Ochlockonee River at 26', and the level at flood stage is 21'. It appears that the eastern side of Tallahassee had the most rain and the Ochlockonee River on the upper end of Talquin reached flood stage yesterday. I talked with a relative today that lives on Talquin and he said that he does not know of any official rain fall totals but he had 15+ inches at his house yesterday and the lake is definitely full and has a lot of debris floating in it. It is still raining there today, but not anything like it was yesterday. Looks like it will be a while before the lake is back to normal..The good news is my camper did not float away

Default Talquin

I plan on being down there then. I try to go 5 or 6 times a year and Thanksgiving is usually one of them. I'm sure there will be a good many folks down there then, it's usually pretty crowded. I hope to make a trip in late October or early November before then as well.

Haven't ran it by my "event coordinator" yet but I plan on going down that weekend. I was there last year and they bit pretty good if you could stay out in the wind. Most of the smaller boats had to quit pretty early and wait til pretty late to try and get back out that weekend....Caught quite a few fish down there last year but the fish over 2 pounds seemed a lot fewer and farther between than the previous years on the lake....
