I took a couple hours while watching TV reruns and keyed all of the Allatoona fish attractor waypoints in my handheld Lowrance GPS. I saved them to the unit's SD card and successfully uploaded them to my Lowrance LCX 26HD on the boat.

I'm doing some more testing to make sure it didn't overwrite any of my existing waypoints, but it looks good so far.

If anyone has an SD slot on their Lowrance and wants the datafile, PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you.

I'm starting on the other lakes with DNR fish attractors and will make them available if this method works.

I do not know if this will work on anything other than a Lowrance.

Sitting on the sofa keying the handheld was a lot easier than doing so on the boat. I used the sinking boat icons and named the waypoints Ata001 thru Ata038 to correspond to the number system on the DNRs maps at:

Georgia Department of Natural Resources

Some attractors have been illegally moved by fisherman and you may have to search a bit to find the.

I selected the Lowrance H2O handheld because it uses the same menus and the same preloaded cards (Navionics, etc.) as my boat unit and thought I had the best shot at making it work. I think I can transfer the trails the same way but I haven't tested that yet.

Lowrance saves the downloads with a .usr extension. See if that is what your Garmin uses. Even if it is the same, I can't predict the results if you upload my file, but I'll be glad to send it to you if you want to take a shot at it.

i have something like that it keeps all my points saved for me and i have one for each lake i got too lol its a map
all joking aside a real good map still is the best thing to have even if you have a gps but then again i lived on the coust for a long time when there was no gps and if you couldnt use a map you got lost 0.o lol

yes they can be mooved . i fished one at blacksher and it was mooved 5 ft. i used my smart cast to locate it .

Alan I agree. That's why I referred to the DNR maps. They print out nicely and I keep mine in page protectors.

Also, I always carry a paper map. Atlantic Mapping is located just a few miles from my house and I can always get a current copy of their maps in their showroom.

The GPS provides an easy way to locate the spot or locate it if it's been moved.

I know that there is one real good attractor on these maps in this lake and I need to check out more of them.

anouther part of this is toona is my home lake i have been fishing it since i was 2 on my dads knee
so i do what he allways did witch was get the best map he could and mark is up and as good as a gps puts yuo back to a spot i can do that as well with my map but i know the lake like the back of my hand
but once you learn how to realy use a map yuo can do it on any lake and yes i have a gps but all most neaver use it other then to set up trolling lines

btw diehard yea theres some nic ones around vict and where they droped them i migt have put some condos near as well 0.o
