Default talquin questions

i see a lot of posts on here about talquin , but i've never been. some of friends say it is big fish lake near talahassee,fl. i've also been told the best time to go is december and jan. not trying to steal anyone's honeyhole , just wondering if someone would tell me a few things about talquin. is there docks? trolling or brushpiles? special lake rules? thinking of planning a trip sometime just don't know much about the place. everything i see on crappie.com is positive.

skintback.......Dec. and Jan. can be very good at Talquin, but can also be very tough. Those fish have been known to take a few weeks off around the first of the year from time to time. If I had to choose specific times, I'd say around Thanksgiving for a consistant bite or in Feb. when the crappie down there look like they've swallowed a softball. No secret spots, the lake is extremely small and can't really hide from anyone. Just look for 15 or 20 boats in an area and join in. Longline trolling is the only way to go. Get out there and cover some water. Good Luck!!

thanks for the advice, i may try to go in feb. because i'm usually focused on deer hunting during thanksgiving. who knows, might go in nov. fishing can be really good that time of year. i've not done any trolling during nov. but oct.,nov.,and dec. is the best time of year to night fish in my experience. we've always slayed em at sinclair anyhow during the fall.

Talking HarryD

Hey Skintback, where are you from? I live just below Albany. I usually fish Talquin 2 0r 3 times a week after they start biting. Give me your phone number and I will let you know when they start. HarryD
