Default Trolling Now?

Any of You Georgia Boys having any luck long line trolling right now? My brush pattern has gone to crap and was thinking of going Sunday for a little stroll with the rods out. If so, what baits are working for you now? Thanks.CF

I haven't trolled in a couple of months CF, But I heard reports that early morning trolling can be productive if you know where the fish are. Not much time to look for them because they seem to get lockjaw as soon as the sun comes up over the trees. That makes me think late afternoon might be worth a try also.

Crappieday and I have done some longline trolling several times over the past month. We have had our rods out before safe light and did fairly well till the sun hit the water. Depending on our location on the water that could be from 9-10:30 am. If it's cloudy out, the bite lasts a little longer. We've been running double 1/16 jigs at .8-1.2 mph over a 15' bottom on Lake Lanier. We havent tore em up, but we have caught enough to justify getting the fillet knives out.

If we don't fish too long Sat. nite, may go back and try them early Sun. morning....been wanting to longline a little. Did it last weekend trying out the boat to see how it tracked with the rod holders and did pick up some right before dark over a small flat right off a channel drop.....on black/blue/chartruse Kalin double 1/16th below a bleeding Tenn shad kalin....my favorite two colors

Fish are being caught now in 5 to 8 feet of water by spider rigging. That was from a reliable source. I was thinking of trying to long line to cover more water. Would Y'all do that or would you stick to spider rigging right now? CF

Might want to try corks at the same level you're spider riggin unless they're huggin the bottom at 5 to 8 feet. Worth a try anyway.

Let's keep each other informed on how trolling goes. It's seems a bit early but you never know. I would like to try it around the end of september but if some of you have success ealier let us know when and where. I sense everyone is getting tired of the hot summer and can't wait until the fall get here.
