    Default 17" Massachusetts whoppers

Here is some pictures of some healthy 17-17.5" Massachusetts Crappie taken on a yellow streamer by my fly fishing buddy, Alec. Over the course of the camping weekend 12 crappie of this size were taken, some taking a popping bug at dusk. They sure put a bend on a 3wt fly rod... all fish were released to fight again and give someone else th joy of catching a slab trophy... In Mass, these fish would be awarded a gold pin to the fisherman who catches it. Must be taken to a local bait and tackle store and registered, weighed and measured...they are few and far between for this size, we didn't want to put the stress on these monster Specs... we do CPR (catch, picture & release) on them instead...maybe next year they will be 18"
