Default 14-15" Massachusetts Black Crappie on the fly

Went out to get some fish for an old fashion fish fry for wife and some neighbors. Caught 8 monster crappie all 14-15' all about 1.5-2 lbs, 1 1/2 inches thick

Caught these on a fly called the "Goldie" (Streamer) and it is deadly on all panfish. Caught nice gills, yellow perch, white bass. As you can see I had some fish to clean. We used the Beer batter from the Crappie.com website and it was absolutely outstanding., My neighbors are raving aout it

All these slabs had some serious shoulders and they were black as could be

All the crappie were 14-15". They were so heavy when I tried to lift them into the boat the hooks ripped out of there mouth. I lost about half a dozen of these whoppers

Massachusetts Crappie feed heavily on Alewives, (baby herring that migrate from the ocean) are underharvested, here is the results from some quality well feed monster fish
Tight lines

Nice slabs! Are you the same "gillbuster" that post on a site called Basspond? If you are you tied me some "goldies" for making a donation the that site. I love the "goldies".

Can you post pic of "Goldie"? I've caught some white crappie on "Crappie Candy". This year has been really slow.

Here is another similar fly that you might be interested in. Can be tied in silver or gold. Specks should also bite this fly besides Bass.

Yes I am the same Gillbuster as on the Bass Pond.com. I have been killling the crappie this year on this fly, I have been using a sink tip line to get down 8-10' and they have been hammering them. This fly has so much action and I catch every species of fish, Try different colors of bodie braid, gill and bass love the black and geen coloration. My shoulder is so sore from fishing Saturday, caught well over 50 fish in 3 hours. Crappie + Goldie = Great fish fry

Nice mess of fish and I'll bet they were good!!!!!!!!!!!! For those who don't do the fly rod thing you can the same pattern on a jig head just make the hook point is up in your vice, yeah I know more change to get stabbed but if your carefull no big worries.

One link showed another link to FAOL Fly anglers on line to a fly by Rich Ziegler. Rich is an excellent tyer and has come up with some great patterns.
