Out on a limb here
I may be out on a limb here, but it won't be long until the shellcrackers and blue gill are biting. Being new to this forum, I didn't know if any discussions were held concerning these pan fish.
But here goes. Are there any tournaments or gatherings in central Florida? I know in Donaldsville, Georgia they hold an annual shellcracker day with a tournament and have a great turn out each year.
Thanks

A lot of them are caught in Lake Harris and are a 'favorite' to fish for, haven't tried for them as the time they come in is also 'GROUPER' time.

Speckanator
I'll sit in a shellcracker bed all day. Just wait for those gators to start bellowing, they both like the same water temp to get all lovey.

I know what you mean about the gators. I've been in an area with beds and gators come alive all aorund. I've seen some real good fights in the middle where the big boys meet. Speck fishing is still my favorite but I do love to catch the crackers, gills and warmouths too.

Specs don't fight as good as redbellies, crackers, gills....

It is the ability to bring the "PAPER MOUTH" to the edge of the boat and then lip him before he decides to take one more last flip before tearing loose from the hook.

Last Weekend.
You should have seenhow aggressive those specks were on Crescent last weekend! I couldn't even turn one of them. They were fighting like bass. I think they are gorging themselves before going to the beds!
