    Default Yep!

Fished lochloosa on Sunday. Deepest part of the lake is about 7'. Orange is 12' in one spot in the middle. Fish aren't biting very good right now. Went to Crescent and caught 37 on Saturday and 15 on Sunday in gale force winds.

Best theory I have seen is the same for the fish kill on Lake Parker. Something caused a sudden drop in the free oxygen in the water suffocating the fish. This can result when large quantities of algae die from a cold weather snap (which is when it occurred). There should not have been a large amount of algae this time of year, but fertilizers could have helped that along quite a bit.

Look for some person to have done some heavy fertilizing accompanied by a little rain. It is all just theory, but it fits. Is their a Golf course or a few beautiful yards on the lake?

Game warden says oxygen levels were good and there it wasn't a algae bloom. It was still unexplained as of a week ago (the last time i got checked by a game warden). And no there are very few "beautiful yards" and no golf courses on loch. It is too bad the speck fishery was decent and the bass population was getting pretty good. Looks like it will give the biologist another reason to impose another 5 year slot limit on bass and put one on the specks too.
