I love speck fishing, as much as the next guy, but if your going to be in Melbourne in march hit Schnook and the other specs... Saltwater Trout. There is tons of fishing around there, and it will be in full swing in March. I am certain that the spring migration for big numbers of big fish will be on at that time.

If you have to fish fresh water, isnt the stick marsh over there?

Lake Washington/St Johns River is just a few miles from Melbourne. Stickmarsh/Farm 13 is about 20 miles south, but usually worth the ride. I’ve caught a lot of fish in the river south of Lake Washington slashing the banks. Trolling is tough because the water depth is so inconsistent. When conditions are right, Stickmarsh is hard to beat for size and quantity. But it’s a real hard lake to learn. I wouldn’t recommend going without somebody who’s halfway familiar. It’s an easy lake to love…and hate. March was my best month last year and I’m sure I’ll hit it a few times in the next several weeks, along with a trip or two to the Big O. PM me with your schedule and I’ll let you know if we can show you around.

You bringing a boat? I can probably also show you a thing or two on the Stick Marsh. March is usually a good month.
