Default Items for slabfest get together

    HICKORY POINT:
which has 4 active boat ramps, 2 deep draft and 2 shallow. A very nice boat dock setup with floating docks and stationary (non floating). Lots of good parking for boats and trucks with separate parking area for single vehicles. Picnic tables with charcoal fireboxes on pedestal, same as the ones at the Sanford Senior Center, Restrooms with running water. There are two covered gazebos. We can set up an area to clean fish, with electric (for fillet knives) and running water. There is a small recreation area for the children and a fishing pier attached to the boat dock.
The fee for entering the HICKORY POINT RECREATION area is $2.00 per vehicle and trailer or vehicle only. This fee is only until 8:00 AM, when the gates are opened until 5:00 or 6:00 PM. then the fee for access goes into effect again. There is an dollar bill acceptor at the gate entrance and there is also a TOKEN acceptor for those who purchase tokens from the LAKE COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY. There is also a gate which will allow those who are in possession of a yearly pass to gain entrance. The exit is protected from illegal entry by the TIGER CLAW guard on the way out. With these you can drive over them on the way out but DON'T back up or they will shred your tires.
I will TRY and have the gates open for us:D:D Just don't want to get to cocky just yet and say that they will be open.
Now for the meat of the meal setup.

We had about 15 members fishing and they brought along several guests, so I would have to guess that we will be feeding about 30 people.
    NO UNINVITED GUESTS

I keep going over there every Sunday morning for our daily walk, scouting out the best place to fish.
I might just get a few and put them in my live well, like I did at Lake Monroe:D

I am sure that the others will chime in here within the next week.

Put me in for the vegetable oil and the salt and pepper shakers.

Wife and I plan on coming up next week to check out the lake, etc and do a little fishing - who's the guy with all the secret fishing spots that can give us a run down on the lake? Which lakes can we fish - any restrictions?

    Thanks,
    Don

I think (I get in trouble for this most of the time) that SHU or CENTERDRIVER could give you some pointers.
Altho I live on Little Harris, I haven't been stalking the crappie like I should and do not know all of the best sites.
I would suggest getting a map of the HARRIS CHAIN OF LAKES. It will show you all of the water surface and an idea of the water depths.
A nice boat ride would be thru the DORA CANAL. It is about one mile in length. This is between Lake Dora and Lake Eustis.
Would suggest if touring the canal that you trim your outboard motor up and just allow the prop and water inputs to be below the waters surface, as the canal can be tricky especially if you get out of the main canal. It is a no wake area all of the way.

HA HA Pointers??????You got to be kidding! Tried to get some pointers offin you guys at Monroe and did not get diddly till the next day or so (did finally get a pm or 2) but not where I could be pointed to "that side of the lake", or "this side of the lake". Oh, I could tell yall some holes, but Shu would shoot me cuz that is HIS part of the sand box. Mine is about 10 miles by water from his.
Now getting down to business at hand. I can only bring one cooker, but have 2 tanks of propane to throw in. Could also throw in the slotted spoons and big bowl to rinse the filets in, and some baggies. Will also bring that lost (without a permanet home) 6 pak cooler and a radio for some background music. Just be aware, all my radios only play 2 kinds of music.....Country......and......Western. Some times (if I find the right staion) it plays both at the same time!!!!!
Now getting on down to the "things to decide on".
Anyone volunteering to do the ground work this time???
What time is the gate gonna be open???
    Time to meet ???
    How long to fish????
Can anyone think of other things to decide upon??
You know, the normal things to plan on. We learned a lot during the last one, lets see if we can make it better this time. After all, iffin you ain't makin things better, you ain't learnt a dang thing.
