    Default St. Johns Welaka

Well, we are back from taking our parents down for a short weekend of fishing. You all have a beautiful river system down there to fish. Fishing was tougher than i thought it would be with the full moon on Sunday. Hardly found any crackers and only found one spot that had big bluegill but they would only bite last 2 hours of day. Couldn't get them to bite at daylight or during day. Wind made fishing tough down towards George. I think that small front that came through Friday had something to do with it. All in all we had fun and that is all that matters. Found some crappie still up in the pads as well but not many.
Thanks pescador thanked you for this post

Glad you had a good time. I know many people that love fishing a full moon, I will fish anytime but my expectations are lower when fishing a full moon. Just have never done well on full moons.

My wife and I were down in the Welaka area as well for the month of April with about the same results as you. So we make reservations for next year as its only a nice drive to see our daughter n family.
May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !

Welaka was my first Florida fishing trip many years ago. I stayed at Stegbone's fish camp. Had a good time there. JC
