    Default Snagged

At least I thought I was. Stuck the rod down in the water to knock it loose and it moved. Line movement was like none I had never seen before. 2lb rig so I couldn't put tons of heat to whatever it was so I just tried to stay in open water. Back and forth for a good long while and I finally palmed the spool and gained a little line to see a Soft shell come to the surface and had my little Beetle spin in the left front foot. Well, that explained the line movement. Of course he wanted no part of the net and here we went again. Finally got him in the boat and he goes scurrying about and me looking for higher ground, knowing how far they can snap those jaws when they want to. That had to be funny to watch, glad no one was around. Stuffed the net in his face and got my bug back, then to get him back in the net. Those things can really move! He still swims, none the worse for the affair. No water in the live well but a good day out. Thanks for coming along.....Skeet.

Hey Tim, that's quite an accomplishment especially on 2# line! The first one I ever snagged while slow trolling, made my heart skip a beat! Thought I had some kind of big fish. lol They sure can have their way with ya with light line and a 12' rod. Thanks for the report always enjoy.

Glad you let him swim on. 2# line, you did good to get him to the boat.

A few months back a car a ways out in front of me stopped and put on the flashers.
By the time i got there a lady had gotten out, walked in front of her car and picked up a pretty big one.
Had a hand under the shell on both sides and just walked it across the road where there was a large retention pond.
Just saying guys, just saying. lol

I've stopped the work truck in the lane of traffic to rescue a Gopher more than once. I bet I will one day get some static from our safety guy, who moves only a fraction faster than said Gopher. I've eaten turtle in the past but they are just cool and visit me regularly when I'm out. He deserved a pass.

My Lab loves Gopher turtles. I have to put them across the fence to keep her from playing with them. One day she brought a very large one in the house through her dog door. Don

Lot of work cleaning them but they are pretty tasty.

Good job Skeet. I caught one once, took forever to get in. Tore up my net too. Funny thing is, it was only hooked barely on the side bottom of the shell. Not even punctured.
