Default Saint Johns / Welaka area

Made it to the Saint Johns river and was out for just a couple of hours with the wife to scout around. Water temp low 70s no real wind but real foggy till ten or so. Have fuel issues with my 60hp merc so I'll be staying around condo till I get it figured out. If you see a blue tracker 175 tf running on trolling motor I'm not doing it on purpose in the main channel.

Cd, n fish on line, Fuel filter running empty and must prime to keep it going, just replaced primer bulb n lines from boat deck to motor and it ran better then loosened n reseated the filter and ran it on plane as well as through the rpm range.Got the wife to fish and check out area . After fishing a little it ran for 5min at 5000rpm or so and it shut down had to use trolling motor to get to condo. Any ides would be appreciated!

Sounds like you are sucking the tank into a vacuum.

When was the last time you changed the impeller? Mine had fuel line issues and after I changed all the fuel lines it did what you said, ran great for about 5 min. wide open then would shut down with no alarms, let sit for 5 min and would run great for 5 min then shut down. If I ran at 4500 RPM it ran fine. The Impeller had formed to the housing and only pulling water for half the rotation, causing it to heat up and shut down. I scratched my head for days on that one.

Check the tank vent for a mud dauber. If you can get to it, check the carb bowl for fuel line rubber that may have gotten by you when you redid that. Pull the plugs and check for fouling. If one is and one isn't there may be ignition problems.

Cd n skeetbum ,Thanks for the reply as my trackers fuel vent is in the cap and I Have great water volume / pressure (cd) (pump was rebuilt just before I Bought it and I Have dealer paperwork )and after talking to my son who works at a Kubota dealership said for me to check cap as they go bad. I'm going to loosen cap n run it in the morning and go from there.

Yep, It's the vent/fuel cap that was giving me a real head ache. Ordered a new one and after talking to a tracker dealer I removed the vent screw (had to use a pair of pliers) and pulled a rubber seal out and trimmed plastic out of the seal area. Motor now runs 6,000rpmwide open n trimmed out with the two of us. Will be posting water temps and hopefully fish counts in a few days after we see grandkids .
